We have sad news to report…one of the staples in the South Florida card show scene, Spencer Bloom, has passed away, as confirmed on the funeral home’s website. Spencer was probably Bo Jackson’s biggest fan, and often was seen at card shows wearing Raiders or Royals gear. He could usually be found set up at the Fort Lauderdale Card Show and the Lake Worth Card Show, and was a middle school teacher at Omni Middle School in Boca Raton.
We do not have any details as to the cause of death, and ask that you respect his family’s privacy at this time regarding that.
His chapel service will be at Gutterman Warheit Memorial Chapel at 7240 N Federal Hwy in Boca Raton, FL 33487 this Thursday, October 24th, at 4:00pm.
We’ll update this post with any further info if/when we have it.
RIP my friend.
10/24/24 UPDATE: I attended his Chapel Service today in Boca Raton. I’d estimate 60-75 people attended, with 6 of us from the card show scene that I counted. They believe that he had a heart attack after being found dead on his 46th birthday on Sunday. He will be buried in New York this coming Sunday. Donations can be made in his memory to the Royals Foundation, Nets Liberty Foundation or the Raiders Foundation.
